About Alcoholic Drinks

Alcoholic Drinks (alcoholicdrinks.net) is an independent reference site built for one purpose: to explain, clearly and accurately, how the world's alcoholic beverages are made, where they come from, and how to taste them with more confidence.

What we cover

Our content is organized into five directories — the Spirit & Production Directory, Appellations & Origin Maps, the Science of Alcohol, Historical Timelines & Culture, and the Sommelier's Tasting Toolkit. Together they cover distilled spirits, wine, beer and cider, liqueurs, and traditional fermentations, along with the geography, chemistry, and history behind them.

Our approach

Every article follows the same structure: a quick-reference guide, core styles within the category, and a tasting profile you can use at the bar or in your own kitchen. We aim for the depth of a good reference book with the accessibility of a well-organized website.

Please drink responsibly

Alcoholic Drinks is an educational resource, not an endorsement of consumption. Alcohol affects everyone differently, carries health risks, and should only be consumed by adults of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol use, organizations such as the World Health Organization and local health services can help.
